i saw this the other day,
and i think its interesting .. but again it got some bad messages about islam …

I think this is great!
I don’t think it has any bad messages. It talks to the west in the way people think. They want someone like them who actually “tried it” and came back to tell the story. That’s the base of Do-it-yourself channel or Travel Channel or Extreme whatever show, or trading spouses. This is the kind of media items that Americans would listen to.

For one, it shows you how painful it was for even a white American dressed as a Muslim to get people to sign a petition! Do you know that even pee-smelling homeless people would get more people to sign petitions than what this guy saw

I think there is a positive message in there…

I think it almost a year and a half old.But one thing dadan,why do we always look for bad things about islam? Did you ask youself this question?This guy did a good job but he chose the wrong family to stay with, by the way they are shia from detroit.. I can assure you that we are the ones “hurting” islam not them, each action has a reaction, can a muslim do a program on being a christian for 30 days?

Yes, obviously. Everybody knows all Muslim petitions amount to “So, sign here if you think it’s cool we kill the Jews” - no matter what is written on the actual petition, that is the message it contains between the lines.

And I’m only being half sarcastic. If Muslims want to change that perception, maybe they should start pushing issues that aren’t so damned hostile.

Why not? There are plenty of Christians in Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan that could serve as host families. Go for it.

I was being half sarcastic;), I just wanted to send a message that “we” as muslims always look for what we don’t like-hidden messages to hurt islam- while we forget that we are the ones that “hurt” islam by not moving to condemn the acts of islam hijackers!!

And I think the hate thing goes both ways so you can’t just blame muslims, Once you act like the people you hate then you are no more “Free and just country”..

I didn’t like the part in the end where he decided right away to have a drink..

but the episode as a whole was mediocre.. also it would have been better if he lived in an Arabic family.. but I think he was scared so they put him a neutral Pakistani home.

Reminds me of myself back there. Living in a place where you’re constantly watched, and having to always explain yourself was one hell of a strain. And this is from somebody who doesn’t even believe in Islam. But I remember those weird looks at my mother who wears the Hijab. That wasn’t nice at all.

The thing is Americans trust their media so much, that they absorb whatever is thrown at them. I disagree with you Craig, American Muslims, out of all people, do not support chopping up Jews. Coming from somebody who was one of them, they just want to be left alone. The way that you would want to be left alone.
