Instead, the person in question (in this case the husband or wife) would testify 4 times that he has witnessed adultery and a 5th time that may the curse of god be upon himself if he was a liar And would prevent the accused from getting the punishment to testify 4 times that he is a liar. And a fifth one that the wrath of god may be upon her if he said the truth. -No punishment/death involved!
