#ArabicSentimentAnalysis

Arabic sentiment analysis looks, on paper, like a solved problem. In practice it is a cautionary tale. These posts dig into why off-the-shelf sentiment models trained on English reviews fall apart on Arabic social media, where dialect switches mid-sentence, sarcasm is a default register, and a single word can flip meaning depending on the Levantine or Gulf context it borrows from. I write about the benchmark gaps, the annotated datasets that do not exist, and the downstream consequences when a moderation system or brand-monitoring tool misreads anger as approval. Sentiment analysis is never just technical. It is a claim about what an emotion means, and in Arabic that claim gets made across a region with sharply different ways of being polite, furious, or funny.
