Human identification in the age of synthetic media is a problem that sounds technical and is actually about trust. These posts cover the emerging tooling for distinguishing human-made content from machine-generated output, the watermarking schemes and provenance standards and cryptographic receipts, and the harder question of who gets to define what counts as "human." I write about the SynthID line of work, the C2PA provenance framework, and the political stakes, because a world that cannot tell human from synthetic speech is a world where evidence itself becomes negotiable. The posts here are skeptical of silver bullets but take the problem seriously. Provenance is not a feature. It is a precondition for a functioning public sphere.
