#Tech4Good

Tech for good is a phrase that too often means technology deployed to make the deployer feel good, and these posts hold it to a higher standard. I write about projects that genuinely improve lives, the assistive technologies, the civic tech that actually gets used, the open-source tools built for communities the market ignores, and about the critical question that distinguishes them from the rest. Does the community affected have power over the tool, or is it a recipient of someone else's idea of help? The pieces here are interested in the structural answer, not the marketing. Real tech for good is rare, usually underfunded, and almost always built by people close to the problem. The goal is to find it and take it seriously.
